Custom hand carved Entrance Doors

Custom carved doors such as the Mishe Mokwa door shown here, can be produced to your own personalized theme. This door represents the mother bear and cubs, of Indian Legend, who swam across Lake Michigan to escape a forest fire. The cubs drowned in the lake. Mishe Mokwa waited on top of the great dune in vain, till she went to sleep. The Great Spirit "Manitou" raised the cubs up as the Manitou Islands, and the Mother bear became the large forested dune. This door was made for the main entrance of a log cabin near the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in northern Michigan. The moon over the bears shoulder is a beveled glass lite to peer out of.
