	Pokey the snail, was carvd out of a piece of black-cherry wood felled in a storm on the back woodlot. Carved in a humorous cartoon like style the snail embellishes the staircase while adding stiffness to the handrail.
The moonface at right is carved into an antique wooden headboard, from an art-deco style twin bed. The design of the bed lent itself well to the "bedtime-eyes" moon and stars theme for this whimsical wall hanger. Such carvings can be executed on many existing objects, or the "canvas" can be built to order.
	The carved eagle head, at left is part of the floor joist of the adjacent upper floor loft and is about 10 feet above the main floor. A spotlight was installed to illuminate it as a highlight alongside a floor to ceiling stone fireplace.
